Welcome to our Teaching and Learning Resource Library. This library has been created to support policy makers, district leaders, school administrators, and teachers as they work to transform schools to improve student achievement.
This Teaching and Learning Resource Library provides research and tools on a range of topics within the four essentials of an effective school: a performance-based system, effective supports, a supportive school culture, and future focus.
The documents connected to a performance-based system have been assembled to support schools in the development and implementation of an academic system focused on rigorous and meaningful student outcomes. Resources relating to the essential of effective supports are designed to assist school communities in the creation of the systems and structures necessary for school improvement. The supportive school culture section describes specific ways schools can connect to students' cultural and personal assets and knowledge. Finally, the items within the future focus essential provide samples of activities and curricula that can be used to engage high school students in meaningful post-secondary planning.
Performance-based System
Learning Walk: A tool for principals to use when observing classes in their buildings. The learning walk is designed as a quick walk-through for principals to observe students' understand, rigor in teachers' lesson plans, student work and conversations.
Sample Product List: A list of many potential products that teachers can assign in lieu of a test or quiz. These products are arranged in the following categories: visual, oral, written, and other.
Rigor PowerPoint: A guided overview and discussion format for practitioners that suggests ways to infuse rigor in the classroom and school environment.
Creating a Portfolio Task: A tool designed to assist practitioners in developing relevant qnd rigorous portfolio tasks, providing studenta with opportunities to show what they have learned.
Teacher Checklist for Portfolio Products: A tool to use after developing a portfolio task to guide practitioner reflection and future assessment behavior.
Teacher Tips for Portfolios: A reference guide for teachers to use while implementing and sustaining their portfolio systems.

In addition to its project work, CYDE offers training and workshops on a wide variety of topics for teachers, school and program administrators, youth workers, and others.
