The First New England Diploma Plus Student Exhibition
The first annual New England Diploma Plus Student Exhibition was held at Massasoit Community College in Brockton, Massachusetts, on May 4th. Over fifty students representing seven Diploma Plus schools in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island attended the event. These students displayed and discussed their academic work on topics ranging from the environmental impact of the proposed construction of a nitrogen plant and an aluminum plant on a community, to an analysis of the Cuban revolution.
Students at Diploma Plus schools are asked to “show what they know” through portfolios, presentations, projects, and exhibits. This showcase of student work across the Diploma Plus schools is part of an increased commitment to connect our students across our network and to engage our youth in an effort to strengthen our schools.
Following the exhibits, the school communities gathered to hear powerful poetry readings from two Diploma Plus students and a Diploma Plus staff member. Certificates and books were presented to the students attending the event to acknowledge their academic and personal accomplishments.
