In partnership with state partners, business organizations, academic researchers and practitioners in the field, Commonwealth Corporation develops guide books and manuals, curricula, templates and other resources and tools to assist policymakers and service providers in designing workforce strategies, delivering workforce development services and making decisions about state and regional priorities and the allocation of resources.


In order to fully support workforce development work in the field, Commonwealth Corporation serves as a clearinghouse for resources, tools and publications developed by other organizations as well.

Empower Your Future is a life skills, career development and employability curriculum training guide developed for use by program staff of the DYS Bridging the Opportunity Gap Initiative with participating youth to further develop the essential work and life skills necessary for personal and family self-sufficiency. This guide is just one of the many resources the Department has developed to further its goal of providing education, social-emotional and employability skills to support personal and professional achievement for its clients. The Massachusetts Department of Youth Services believes this Guide has reached beyond the scope of DYS clients and can be utilized by educators and program staff who are committed to enhancing education, employment and positive outcomes for youth across the Commonwealth.
