EQA Pilot Project Initiative—April 2010
Description of Pilot Project
The EQA pilot project will enable DYS (in partnership with Commonwealth Corporation) to “field test” the assessment of selected education initiatives, which have been implemented by the DYS Education Initiative over the past several years. The purpose of the EQA pilot is to design and develop a set of EQA tools (based on a set of standards and indicators for each initiative), as well as assess the most effective means of gathering baseline data to refine the field assessment process. The initiatives that have been chosen for the pilot include:
- Individual Professional Development Plan for Teachers and Teaching Coordinators
- Teacher Licensure Requirements
- Student Learning Objectives (using the KUD format –Know, Understand, and Do)
- DYS Student Transcript
Pilot Project Goals
The specific goals of the pilot project include the:
- Design and pilot of an initial set of tools, including but not limited to a rubric of indicators of effective practice and a survey instrument
- Creation of a data collection process that measures the effectiveness of each initiative
- Analysis of data that identified implementation issues regarding the selected education initiatives
- A plan to provide technical assistance to education programs not meeting implementation requirements
- To inform the planning process for further development of EQA standards, indicators, and rubrics for the overall DYS Education Initiative
